Artist: John Fisher
In 2004, Elings Park collaborated with the Council on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse (CADA) to establish the first art piece for the Park’s sculpture garden. The monument serves as a lasting symbol of hope and remembrance for those in our community who struggle with the perils of drug and alcohol addiction. The sculpture depicts youth ascending a mountain with the help of adults, as they symbolically remind us of the power of the human spirit to overcome drug addiction.
Artist John Fisher utilized a 19-ton block of Carrara marble imported from the quarries of Italy. John is a world-renowned American artist, who lives in Pietrasanta, Italy. His work has been featured on National Geographic and the Discovery Channel. His profoundly philosophical approach to art and its’ impact on communities is admirable and sets a precedent for the Park and the Santa Barbara community.
