Santa Barbara School of Tennis at Elings Park is situated at one of the most beautiful and prestigious destination on the West Coast.
Overlooking Hendry’s Beach with 360 degree views, Elings Park is a 230-acre privately funded park open to the public. Our location provides a unique place to train and learn from world-class coaches and instructors while enjoying the eminence and tranquility of the environment.

Our mission at Santa Barbara School of Tennis is to provide top quality tennis instructions and an environment where players can learn to compete, win, and enjoy the game of tennis. The Tennis School aims to develop and enhance all aspects of successful tennis, including technique, footwork, fitness, peak performance, nutrition, and strategy.

Reservation and  light usage fee per court is required for night time play. Light usage fee: $15 for non-members and $10 for members.

Our junior clinics are certified for independent P.E. credit for schools.


Dimitar Yazadzhiev, MPE – Owner & Tennis Director at Oceanside and Santa Barbara School of Tennis

Dimitar YazadzhievDimitar is USPTR Professional and has been coaching at the top professional level and working with some of the top ranked national and international junior players for almost 20 years. Before founding of the Oceanside Tennis School & Academy, Dimitar was the Head Coach of the Weil Tennis Academy in Ojai, CA for 10 years, Coach at the Maleeva Tennis Academy, and Tournament Director for the Bulgarian Tennis Federation and a Management Director for the Academic Tennis Club (Sofia, Bulgaria). He has been ranked among the Top Four Juniors in Bulgaria and has been a professional USPTR since 1993.

Dimitar graduated from the prestigious Bulgarian National Sports Academy with a master’s degree in Physical Education and Sports Management. He has been coaching and working with some of the top ranked national and international junior players, among them: Sesil Karatancheva (Top 40 WTA and French Open Quarter Finalist), Ksenia Milevskaya (Top 200 WTA, 2007 #2 ITF), Nolan Bauer (#1 Southwest Section B14s, Top 40 US B14s), and Grigor Dimitrov (#1 ITF B18s, 2006 Orange Bowl Boys 16s Singles champion, 2008 Jr. Wimbledon champion, and 2008 Jr. US Open Singles champion). Pete Kirkwood – USPTA Professional / Head Coach and Adult Clinic Coordinator

Pete has 18 years of experience as the Head Coach Women’s Tennis at UCSB and co-directed the Nike Tennis Camps for ten years. He was responsible for recruiting successful student athletes to compete at the Division I level for the UC Santa Barbara Women’s tennis team. Over the years Pete won 2 big West championships, 3 All Americans (only all Americans in school history) and over 200 wins at Division I level (most all time at UCSB). Peter has a bachelors of science degree in physical education from CS Bakersfield 1985 and he is a USPTA certified professional since 1992.

Tiago Hayashi – USPTR Professional / Head Coach

Tiago was on a full tuition athletic scholarship at Westmont College, from where he graduated with Bachelor of Art in Economics & Business. He worked as Tennis Instructor for Guy Fritz Tennis Camp (San Diego, CA) and for Westmont College Tennis Camp. Tiago was ranked Top 10 Juniors in the 18’s in the state of Sao Paulo. He won several junior tournaments playing against top Brazilian ATP players such as Thomaz Bellucci, Joao Souza, and Daniel Silva. Tiago is the winner of the Ojai Tennis Tournament for Junior College in Singles as a Sophomore. Tiago finished season at Westmont College ranked as #19 in the Nation for singles. He is fluent in Portuguese, English, and Spanish and has basic skills in German and Japanese.

Geoff Pryce – USPTA P-1 Professional / Head Coach

Geoff brings to Oceanside School of Tennis some 30 years of teaching and coaching experience. First certified by the USPTA in 1977, he went on to be Head Trainer for the W.C.T. International Tennis Academies in Cala D’Or Mallorca and Playa Jandía, Fuerteventura, Canary Islands (Spain). He later became Tennis Director of the America Embassy Club in Bonn, Germany, where he trained future German ATP and Davis Cup player Marc-Kevin Peter Goellner. Geoff was awarded by the Sportgemeinschaft Deutscher Bundestag honorary player status on their Parliamentary Team. As a member of this team, he was a finalist in the Apollinaris Cup in Bad Neuenahr. Presently, Geoff is also the assistant tennis coach for men’s at Westmont College.

Maia Semerdjieva Tennis Head Coach – Juniors Development

MaiaMaia Semerdjieva grew up in Sofia, Bulgaria and she plays tennis since 3 years old. During her junior tennis years, she actively participated and competed in many national, European (ETA) and ITF tournaments. In 2006, she came to the United States on a full scholarship playing NCAA Division I for Tennessee Technological University (TnTech) and later on for Grambling State University (GSU) in Louisiana.

Maia was awarded Freshman of the Year Award and led TnTech to the semifinals of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) in 2006. In addition, she was the No.1 seeded player and a team captain for GSU during 3 consecutive years (2007-2010) and led her team to the semifinals of the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) during all three years, where she was awarded First-Team SWAC and Second-Team SWAC on multiple occasions.From 2007 to 2010, Maia was a Tennis Coach in Kinyon/Jones Tennis Camp in Dartmouth College, NH, where she managed the 10-17 age group summer camps and coached junior tennis clinics totaling more than 50 children weekly. She is also a certified ITF Chair Umpire and a Line Judge. Maia graduated from GSU in Business Management in 2010 and began her graduate education in August 2011 at GSU, as she is pursuing a Master of Science degree in Sport Administration with an anticipated graduation date of May, 2013.

  • Family membership covers children 18 and younger.
  • Day Pass court use fee is $8. You can purchase a package of 25 day passes for $150 ($6 each).

Junior Clinics

Pee Wee (ages 4 to 7) – 5:00-6:00pm – Year-Round

Our camps and clinics are for young players who are determined to excel in their game to a level of successfully competing at tournaments.

This class focuses on coordination, hand-eye orientation, following directions, beginner technique with low-pressure tennis balls, and working as a team. Our activities, which we change every 10 minutes, are fast-paced with high-energy, keeping the children involved, yet having fun:

- One day a week (Tue/Thu/Sat): 1 hour – $95/month or $30/day

- Two days a week (Tue/Thu/Sat): 1 hour – $180/month or $30/day

- Three days a week (Tue/Thu/Sat): 1 hour – $250/month or $30/day

Future Stars (ages 6 to 10) – 4:30-6:00pm- Year-Round
One day a week (Mon/Wed/Fri):   1½ h – $150/month or $40/day

Our goal is to prepare these players for competitions and match play. The professional staff instructs these players on how to hit the ball in order to achieve their desired results, and we begin instructions on serving. Players will focus on technical and tactical aspects of tennis.

This unique new youth program is a high-cardio workout geared to reduce body fat and increase muscle mass while having fun learning tennis skills.

Competitive Strategy Sparring

(As an addition to clinics and private lessons)

One-hour competitive sparring sessions with a Head Coach or a ranked ITF Player for our hard-working players that need more consistent and competitive rally balls and strategy ideas for positioning during their points to take their game to the next level.

- $40/h when you prepay for 10 hours ahead ($400),

- $45/h when you prepay for 5 hours ahead ($225), and

- $50/h if you would like to just try it out once.

  • The Elings Park Foundation operates and manages the Las Positas Tennis facility for the benefit of our members and their guests.  Our managing pro is Dimitar Yazadzhiev.
  • We do not receive any tax dollars.  All expenses are covered with program fees and donations only.  We do charge a fee to use this facility.  We appreciate your support and your understanding.
  • Our goal is to offer an affordable, safe, clean and enjoyable place to play tennis.
  • Before playing, please check in with the facility manager on duty.  If you need assistance, please call our site manager at 805-698-5442 or our park host at 805-698-7064.  In an emergency, please call 911.
  •  As a condition of use of the facility, you agree to use the facility at your own risk.  The Foundation or its representatives will not be held liable for any injury or loss associated with using the facility.
  • We ask that you wear an appropriate shirt, shorts and shoes while at the facility.
  • You are required to wear non-marking tennis shoes only.  No black soled shoes are allowed regardless of their warranty against marking.
  • Consumption of alcohol or tobacco is by permit only.
  • We ask that you respect your fellow members, the Park’s representatives and the facilities.  We reserve the right to ask members or visitors to leave the premises for violating the Park rules.
  • The tennis courts are to be used to play tennis only unless approved by the management for other purpose.
  • We reserve the right to change our fees and policies at any time.
  • Members may reserve a court by calling 805-698-5442. Depending upon the level of activity at the courts, we reserve the right to only allow one reservation per member at a time.
  • We reserve the right to cancel the reservation if you are not ready to play within 5 minutes of your scheduled reservation time.
  • If there is anyone waiting, court usage will be limited to 30 minutes for
  • A non-member court pass is valid for 1 hour for singles and 1.5 hours for doubles. The cost is $8 for singles and $7 for doubles.
