SUMMIT FOR DANNY – SUNDAY, OCTOBER 27
Help Our Kids Rise Above Drug Abuse
Join us Sunday, October 27th at Elings Park for CADA’s 19th Annual Summit for Danny Community Climb! Every year, hundreds of hikers unite to raise scholarships funds for substance abuse treatment for teens at the Daniel Bryant Youth and Family Center. Operated by CADA and founded in 2001, the Center provides safe, effective outpatient treatment for young people ages 12-18 who are struggling with alcohol and other drug problems.
Families and friends enjoy great company and the choice of three different hiking trails from easy to advanced. This year’s event features a mini obstacle course from Titan Fitness in the center of the grove for kids to play on during the hike, as well as chair massage stations for our hikers. Live entertainment, a BBQ and awards presentation will follow the hike. This is your opportunity to support our area youth to rise above drug abuse!
Shakespeare in the Park at Godric Grove, Sunday, September 22 at 5:00PM
A completely improvised play in the style of William Shakespeare
Directed by Brian Lohmann & Dan O’Connor
Paying homage to the genius of William Shakespeare, Impro Theatres company spontaneously creates a brand new play in The Bards unmistakable style. Using language that sizzles with poetry, colorful imagery and bawdy innuendo, Shakespeare UnScripted starts with audience suggestions and brings to life the monarchs, spirits, lovers and fools that make up Shakespeares world.
“Impro Theatre has evolved into a powerhouse improvisational company in full-length shows that are off-the-cuff and consistently hilarious. An indigenous Los Angeles treasure, the company should be seen and reseen!” – Los Angeles Times
Please note this show replaces Lit Moon Theater’s Midsummer Night’s Dream. All tickets previously purchased for Midsummer Night’s Dream will be honored for Shakespeare UnScripted.

Elings Terrain Running Festival
Saturday, December 8
Get your running shoes out for a great day of running, food, panoramic ocean and mountain views, and one of Santa Barbara’s premier trail running venues. The Elings Terrain Festival has one simple goal…bring parents, students, and the running community together to raise money for student athletes (cross country) at San Marcos, Dos Pueblos, and Santa Barbara high schools. And the school with the most paid race entries wins the Elings Terrain Cup! Whether you’re fast, slow, or somewhere in between, there’s a trail run for every member of the family:
- 5K (open to everyone); We got it all…dirt, sand, hills, switchbacks, grass. See that hill with the ocean view? Yeah, that’ll be you up there. Race time 11:30 a.m.
- 3K kids (Ages 8-13, parents can register to run with their child); Some grass, some hills…still plenty of dirt. Race time 10:45 a.m.
- 3K dog (your pooch will love running with you). Owner optional, just kidding about the owner optional thing. Same course as the kids 3K run. Joint start with the 3K kids race. Race time 10:45.

Floyd’s Memorial Wall and Garden
Floyd’s Memorial is located next to the restrooms above the soccer fields. The Memorial features a garden, with a remarkable statue of Floyd, sculpted by Bud Bottoms; a drinking fountain that serves dogs and people; and, an artistic ceramic tile wall created by local artist, Sheryl Wheeler from donations by individuals who purchase tiles embellished with their dog’s paw prints.
Michele Morrow had an idea of building a memorial to honor Floyd, an adorable seven-pound local chihuahua, who was tortured and killed by his owner in a tragic senseless act of violence in June 2016. Since then, Michele has devoted her time working with our staff to dedicate an area at the Park that will cultivate community compassion for our animals and strive to raise awareness to prevent animal abuse.
You can contribute to the Memorial by purchasing a 6×6 ceramic tile, which will display your dog’s paw and name. The cost of a tile is $50. Only one dog paw can be printed per tile. Your tile will be placed at Floyd’s Memorial behind the water fountain, creating a beautiful tile wall, displaying your commitment to this special cause. Your tile purchase is tax deductible.
Please help us send a message of community support and commitment to kindness for all animals. Our hope is to grow this vision long into the future.
