Floyd’s Memorial Wall and Garden
We are hosting a dedication and fundraiser event for Floyd’s Memorial. Michele Morrow had an idea of building a memorial to honor Floyd, an adorable seven-pound local chihuahua, who was tortured and killed by his owner in a tragic senseless act of violence in June 2016. Since then, Michele has devoted her time working with our staff to dedicate an area at the Park that will cultivate community compassion for our animals and strive to raise awareness to prevent animal abuse.
Floyd’s Memorial is being constructed next to the restrooms above the soccer fields. The Memorial will feature a garden, where a remarkable statue of Floyd, sculpted by Bud Bottoms, will be placed; a drinking fountain that serves dogs and people; and, an artistic ceramic tile wall created by local artist, Sheryl Wheeler from donations by individuals who purchase tiles embellished with their dog’s paw prints.
You can contribute to the Memorial by purchasing a 6×6 ceramic tile, which will display your dog’s paw and name. The cost of a tile is $250, $50 goes to Elings Park and $200 goes to the pet non-profit of your choice. Only one dog paw can be printed per tile. Your tile will be placed at Floyd’s Memorial behind the water fountain, creating a beautiful tile wall, displaying your commitment to this special cause. Your tile purchase is tax deductible.
A Day of Action ribbon cutting ceremony will take place Friday, March 3rd, from 4 pm to 6 pm. During this ceremony, we will collect your dog paw print to create the tile. It will be one big party for the dogs! You can still get your tile even if you cannot attend the event, just come by the Park office and we will help you.
Please help us send a message of community support and commitment to kindness for all animals. Our hope is to grow this vision long into the future.

Elings Terrain Festival
Get your shoes on for a great day of running, food, live music, beverages, panoramic ocean and mountain views, and one of Santa Barbara’s premier trail running venues. The Elings Terrain Festival has one simple goal…bring parents, students, and the running community together to raise money for student-athletes (cross country) at San Marcos, Dos Pueblos, and Santa Barbara high schools. And the school with the most paid race entries wins the Elings Terrain Cup! Whether you’re fast, slow, or somewhere in between, there’s a trail run for every member of the family:
- 5K (open to everyone); 3K kids (Ages 8-13, parents can register to run with their child); and 3K dog (your pooch will love running with you).
Add to your post-race endorphin buzz with live music, food, exhibits, and a beer garden (21 and older…obviously)

Summit for Danny
A fundraiser for adolescent substance abuse treatment at the Daniel Bryant Youth andFamily Center.
Join us Saturday, October 29th at Elings Park for CADA’s 16th Annual Summit for Danny Community Climb! Every year, hundreds of hikers unite to raise scholarships funds for substance abuse treatment for teens at the Daniel Bryant Youth and Family Center. Operated by CADA and founded in 2001, the Center provides safe, effective outpatient treatment for young people ages 12-18 who are struggling with alcohol and other drug problems. Last year’s event raised over $100,000 for the treatment programs, serving 300 area teens annually.
Families and friends enjoy great company and the choice of three different hiking trails from easy to advanced. This year’s event features a mini obstacle course from Titan Fitness in the center of the grove for kids to play on during the hike, as well as chair massage stations for our hikers. Live entertainment, a BBQ and awards presentation will follow the hike. This is your opportunity to support our area youth to rise above drug abuse!
